Apostille Procedure:

Action 1-- Verification of Records
All initial documents/copies calling for Apostille/attestation from MEA have to be first verified by the designated authorities of the State/Union Area from where the record is released.

For Educational files, The documents need to initially be confirmed by the Education Division/ Personnel Advancement (HRD) of the concerned State Government/Union Territory. The authentication must be done with the name and designation seal along with the seal of the Department.

For Non-Educational records, Home Department or General Management Department (GAD) of the releasing State Government/Union Territory is the marked authorities to embark on the main attestation. The attestation should be finished with the name and designation seal along with the seal of the Division.

Business DocumentsThese are to be pre-authenticated by the respective Chambers of Business. The rubber stamp of the respective Chamber of Business have to be affixed on each paper together with the name & classification of accredited notary.

Action 2-- Apostille of Files
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) thereafter, legalizes/Apostille the files on the basis of the signature of the designated authorities of the State Government/Union Territory/Chambers of Business and also attaches Apostille Sticker label on the reverse of the Initial papers.
