Apostille Procedure:

Action 1-- Verification of Files
All original documents/copies requiring Apostille/attestation from MEA should be first verified by the marked authorities of the State/Union Territory from where the record is released.

For Educational files, The documents need to first be attested by the Education and learning Division/ Personnel Development (HRD) of the concerned State Government/Union Area. The verification needs to be made with the name as well as classification seal along with the seal of the Division.

For Non-Educational records, Home Department or General Management Division (GAD) of the releasing State Government/Union Area is the designated authorities to carry out the key attestation. The attestation has to be done with the name and classification seal in addition to the seal of the Department.

Business DocumentsThese are to be pre-authenticated by the corresponding Chambers of Business. The rubber stamp of the respective Chamber of Business have to be attached on each record in addition to the name & designation of accredited notary.

Action 2-- Apostille of Records
The Ministry of External Matters (MEA) after that, legalizes/Apostille the files on the basis of the signature of the assigned authorities of the State Government/Union Territory/Chambers of Commerce and also attaches Apostille Sticker on the opposite of the Original files.
