Apostille Procedure:
Apostille from MEA can be done after attestation from relevant State Govt. authorities. Action 1-- Verification of Files
All original documents/copies calling for Apostille/attestation from MEA must be first confirmed by the assigned authorities of the State/Union Region where the record is provided.

For Educational files, The documents need to initially be confirmed by the Education and learning Department/ Human Resource Development (HRD) of the worried State Government/Union Region. The authentication should be done with the name and classification seal along with the seal of the Department.

For Non-Educational records, House Division or General Management Department (GAD) of the releasing State Government/Union Territory is the marked authorities to take on the key attestation. The attestation must be made with the name and also designation seal along with the seal of the Department.

Business DocumentsThese are to be pre-authenticated by the corresponding Chambers of Commerce. The stamp of the corresponding Chamber of Commerce must be fastened on each record along with the name & designation of licensed signatory.

Action 2-- Apostille of Records
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after that, legalizes/Apostille the records on the basis of the signature of the assigned authorities of the State Government/Union Territory/Chambers of Commerce and also fastens Apostille Sticker label on the reverse of the Original papers.
